imagined
Last night in the pub we imagined Schindler's List with a soundtrack of the theme tune of The Archers.
It was much funnier that way.

life of a pen part 2 - the pen
(It would have been a Faber-Castell Pitt artist pen superfine fibre tip but my local art shop was out of stock so I thought I'd take the extreme economy measure of a 25p biro from Ryman's instead).

oh, also...
testing
The basic structure of the new website is, I think, pretty much sorted out.
If you want to take a look and check that more than the top left pixel is viewable on your particular monitor and that it isn't purple and upside-down on your particular browser* then go here.
*But you're all clever people using Firefox anyway, aren't you?

tum te tum
Lately I have mainly been working on the re-jiggification of the main website (I say "main" despite the fact that this blog has a great deal more by way of content - in much the same way that I still talk about going "home" when I visit my parents). Anyway, after a spell of getting nowhere slowly I am finally making some progress. All still confined to my hard disk so far but hopefully I'll be ready to upload it in another week or so. But I think I have the basic structure of it sorted out now so there's not too much more thinking (i.e. the hard bit) to do, just a lot of scanning, re-sizing of graphics, rewriting of HTML files and such (i.e. the long drawn out but mostly quite mindless bit). The composition's all there, there's just a lot of crosshatching still to do.
And now, as is traditional, a picture that has nothing to do with the preceding text...

empty shelves
Last scrapings of my stockpile of sketchbook doodlings. I suppose I'll have to draw something new now. Or at least do some more scanning...

grr
Trying to rejig my so-called main site over at daveshelton.com but haven't got anywhere with it at all yet. Partly through indecision about exactly what I want to do with it but mainly because my shabby to begin with HTML skills have withered away to nothing through disuse. Oh well, it all kind of works muscles in my brain that tend to spend too much of their time asleep so it may do me some good in the long run. Kind of frustrating though.

2 men with moustaches and 2 vampires
Or maybe they're all vampires and the top two have only grown their moustaches to conceal their fangs...

2 men, a woman and an elephant
Finished the Corrie job in the early hours of Tuesday morning and in the later hours received the happy news that the client was pleased with it and required absolutely no tweaks and changes. It came out considerably better than the earlier Albert Square piece I think, partly through the clever use of cutting edge new technologies like 3D modelling software. And a ruler. Always learning new skills you see, that's the key.
In other news, my new chair should arrive tomorrow. I just went for a boring, cheapish, bog standard office chair in the end, ignoring the various claims to spine-enhealthening of saddle chairs, orthopaedic kneeling chairs, Herman Miller chairs and exercise balls (on the basis of cost in the first three cases and on the basis of most likely constantly falling off in the last). May yet investigate other options at some point in the distant future but kind of needed to get something good enough for RIGHT NOW so I can get on.
Oh, message to Tim who left a comment a while back: please email me.
