my publisher

So today I had a lovely meeting in Oxford with my publisher (oh, the childish glee it affords me every time I use that phrase) to talk about the children's novel I'm writing and drawing for him and to sign the contract for said work. And we did all the talking, which was all very lovely and helpful, but I forgot to say "Oh, shall I sign the contract now then?" at any point. Which would have been sensible because once I've done that they owe me some money. Oh well. I guess we'll just do it by post now, which is fine, but I'd been rather looking forward to just a little bit of ceremony and occasion.

But still ... I'm writing a book! That's a bit exciting.

Wonder how you do it.

Ah, heck, how hard can it be?

Guess the number of pens in my home and win a prize. Go here.

Comments:
You didn't sign the contract?! Well, maybe you didn't have a pen with you...

Oh, it's easy Dave. Easy.

*sobs*

Liza - I had six pens with me (and one 0.7 mechanical pencil with red leads).

Thomas - my hope is that I can keep my mind on the drawings while I do the writing and keep my mind on the writing while I do the drawings and that way I might just avoid the consuming terror of not really having a clue about what I'm doing.

It's a theory anyways. I'll let you know how it goes.

Yay for you! It'll write itself, surely...
