Very nice but why does he have to look so sad? Give him a party hat and make him pink! You should draw unicorns...
Joking aside, there's a Crumb-like quality about it and I mean that in the best way possible and not just because there's hatching. I think it's something to do with the sad anthropomorphic creature nature of it.
