halfway through the tunnel
Over the weekend work on the all-consuming Secret Project (about which I'm still not allowed to say very much for fear that I'll have my throat cut across, my tongue torn out by the roots, and my body buried in the rough sands of the sea at low water mark - or, you know, at least be told off a bit by my editor) reached the halfway mark. Thought I'd mark the occasion here even if I do still have to economical with the details.
What I think I can say is that it's a comic strip that will see eventual publication in a forthcoming children's comic sometime next year. But long before then it'll show up somewhere else (but I'm really not allowed to talk about that bit).
Anyway, I have special permission to show you a single panel from one of the completed pages, so here's a panel from episode 2 (of 8). Drawn by me and rendered into technicolour wonderfulness by my mate Faz "King Midas" Choudhury whose dedication to the cause is nothing short of heroic.
Full details of all that I can't yet say sometime closer to publication (mid December-ish). In the meantime I'd probably better get on with the second half...

phone update
After a mere fortnight and 7 calls to Virgin (ptuh!) Media's customer services (hah!) department, and having had 3 different numbers across that time I seem now, finally, to have my original number back. Hurrah.
For anyone else having trouble with Branson's minions, the trick seems to be to get through to Swansea. India and Scotland didn't do me any good.

ongoing quiet
Continued apologies for lack of Life Of A Pen II or, indeed, anything much else lately. Basically I'm very busy indeed until about mid-December. And still fairly busy then come to think of it. As a result I'm not seeing very much daylight except to go shopping for foodstuffs or (a scandalously indulgent treat this) to indoor cricket (another heavy defeat on Sunday).
Oh, and today I had my second visit to a physiotherapist about my ongoing dodgy right shoulder.
Her advice was that cricket probably isn't a good idea. Ho hum.
Last night I found myself working through the evening again and listening to the fireworks outside. Which, you know, isn't quite the same. And I am fond of a good firework.
I'm still not able to say all that much about the stuff I'm working on but I'll try to find time to drop a few hints soon - preparatory drawings and suchlike.
In the meantime, I shall be off back to it for another hour or so before bed...
Night night.

Ooh look, dogs...
And nothing much to say about this one.
