Surprised to find, having just looked it up, that it wasn't written by Dr Seuss. (And not at all surprised to find that I had remembered it slightly wrong).
It wasn't a Seuss original but it was published as part of a Seuss series which would account for the confusion.
My sister has our copy of youth for her kids so I was reading it recently. Still stands up!
