Seawhite of Brighton A6 sketchbook number 12b, begun April-ish, 1998
Those poor attempts at a vaguely manga-ish style were the start of my work on a strip drawn for a fellow Brighton student, Sari Tanimura (as she was then, Sari Griffiths now). Sari's written English, back then, was not altogether natural-sounding so some carefully agreed tweaking of her dialogue was applied as I worked on her script. I seem to recall the line "I've been alive to encounter this sweet one!" being changed to something ever so slightly more believable (though, as I view it now, disappointingly less poetic).

shameless self-promotion
Further shameless self-promotion of that there book of mine:
A favourable mention in the Sunday Telegraph;
A very positive review in The Montreal Gazette;
and kind words from those excellent folk at Drawn and Quarterly.
So that's all jolly nice.
look out!

bash
Another small thing from the margins of the daily doggy doings. Ned Trumpet, elephant detective, trying to muscle in on the crime-fighting action.
And a neighbouring sound effect.

Sound effects in the wild
A rare chance to see some comics sound effects roaming free in the wild, just prior to their capture and imprisonment in episode 15 of Good Dog, Bad Dog: Double Identity.

Seawhite of Brighton A6 sketchbook number 12b, begun April-ish, 1998
So this is the sketchbook I started up when number 12 had been temporarily lost, so it's entire contents probably fit chronologically in between two pages from that one (though I can't remember to be sure). I'm sure my future biographers will be able to work it all out in due course...
Some material there from the self-published mini picturebook Gerald Goes To Mexico - a kind of feline crime story/road movie. It was a bit of a mess to be honest but it did feature quite a nice picture of a giraffe in a flat bed truck.
