big page

Currently awaiting news from the nice folk at Andersen as to how to proceed with the cover and inside illustrations for Sophie And The Locust Curse. A third rough of the cover went in last week and a first set of roughs of the b&ws went in yesterday. There should have been some word about the cover in the post today but it failed to appear. In the meantime I've been doodling on a big old page (a touch smaller than A3) that, if there's a whimper of interest, I'm thinking of sticking up for sale on eBay.

Here's a detail:

Whimper.

What are you using at the moment, Faber brush pens?

Lately I have mostly been using Faber-Castell Pitt artist pens: the finest of the fibre tips for linework and black and grey "brush" tips for the rest.

Whatever you are using these days you ought to stop, I'm tired of looking at such lovely and imaginative work! Give me the dull, formulaic and mundane any day of the week.

More big pages please!

Aha, I thought so. I quite like them myself, but I wish the sepia ones were actually sepia coloured, instead of poo coloured. I think the black is not quite black enough either, although it doesn't seem to do your drawings any harm...

Well I do usually give the levels a minor tweak in Photoshop before posting just to blacken the blacks and whiten the whites a tad.

Super doodles! There seems to be a space theme running through the first one.....
